Water conservation is the key to wisely using today’s water and successfully planning for tomorrow’s water.
Did you know…
- Lawn irrigation and garden maintenance can make up to 60% of a household’s water use.
- About 25% of JCSA’s total water volume sold to customers is used for seasonal irrigation.
If you want both a healthy lawn and a lower water bill through water conservation, consider participating in the Turf Love program, offered by the Colonial Soil and Water Conservation District in partnership with the JCSA, James City County and the local Master Gardeners.
Turf Love offers homeowner site visits from trained volunteer Master Gardeners who discuss important lawn care methods with the homeowner to promote water conservation, measure the lawn, and take soil samples to ensure accurate nutrient recommendations.
Homeowners can also learn about stormwater control, proper drainage and correcting problem lawn areas through the Virginia Conservation Assistance Program, also offered by the Colonial Soil and Water Conservation District.
